Blogging Contest – Great Traffic & Free Publicitiy

The wonderful folks over at www.problogger.net have decided to have a little birthday bash for themselves. Now when I say little i actually mean about $54,000 worth of give aways. Thats right, lots of cool swag and prizes. You should stop reading this blog right this instant and click over to www.problogger.net and check it out.

Now not all of us can be as cool as they are and drum up support for a $54,000 birthday bash give away. However contests can give you some buzz and traffic even if you have a small blog and are only giving away a free iTunes song to the first 50 visitors that comment lets say. Some other ideas might be to give away some free back links, or a banner spot for a month for example.

Try it out today on your own site, pick a prize that you can handle giving away that won’t break the bank. Then go promote it a bunch on other blogs, but do it nicely. There is no harm in asking other blog owners to post about it either, if they say no respect their answer and move on. However you might be surprised at the kindness a lot of bloggers will show you and give you a bit of promotion.
