Interview With A Slovenian
Today I interviewed Marko, from Novaksblog.com. After you’ve read the interview take a trip over to his site and check it out. Marko has a great layout design and is a daily read for me personally. He also makes some very good points in the interview below, so read on:
Marko, give us a nice intro for yourself:
Hi, my name is Marko, and I’m a 26 year old webdesigner from Slovenia.
How long have you been blogging?
Around 6 months now.
What are your thoughts on Google? Adsense?
I think Google is one of the most powerful companies on the net. Adsense is by far the most known and easiest way to make money online. If you really take your time to study it, you can make decent amount of money.
What are your goals?
My goals are constantly changing. At first, I wanted to make money from my ads, but now I would really like to build a community of like-minded people. I’m planning to make a more advanced portfolio which will, I hope, bring me some international projects.
What are you doing to accomplish these goals?
I’m changing and experimenting with new things on my blog all the time. I try to participate in many communities, and get to know as many blogger friends as I can.
On average how much do you make from advertisements on your page a month?
I was making enough to keep my blog alive. Recently it’s not all that good. I did manage to stimulate community like behaviour but lost a great deal of profit in process.
What was your biggest success in blogging?
I think my biggest success was the amount of traffic Novak’s blog had in August. I had about 2000 visitors in July, and 250,000 in August.
What advice would you give a new blogger?
Be stubborn! Don’t give up no matter what, and try to think out of the box.
What has been your “holy crap” moment of blogging so far?
It was when I received my first AdSense check not long ago.
How many RSS feeds are you registered to? Name some of them.
I’m subscribed to about 20 feeds. I constantly change them (deleting tedious ones and adding new ones).
Who do you think is the most influential blogger in your niche?
I think Darren Rowse from Problogger is the go to guy.
In what niche you’re blogging?
Blogging tips, interesting pictures, tutorials, making money. Basicly, it’s the list of Novak’s blog categories.
Every blogger has a writing block from time to time. What do you do when this happens to you?
I go to the local skatepark and release some tension and energy. I’m quite a sport’s fanatic.
Marko makes some very good points with being stubborn as a blogger. Some of the better blogs that I’ve read in the past have gone the way of the dodo because the blog owner was not stubborn enough to stick with the blog for a long period of time. If you are blogging only for the short term to make money quickly – you will find yourself becoming very bored and non enthused by you’re blog. And that is the worst feeling a blogger can endure.
So keep your nose to the grindstone and keep blogging. But if you need a break, go over to Marko’s blog at www.novaksblog.comÂ
