Names & Titles That Suck

Names That Suck:

Erin Hiscock – It speaks for itself when you combine the name with normal email EHiscock@gmail.com for example.

Judith Schwan – “Stop looking at me schwan!”

Tim Schlonger – this could go either way I suppose.

Titles That Suck:

Preblast Specialist & Coordinator – I could write an entire novel here but needless to say there are multipe industries to which this title would apply in full force.

Recreation Activities Service Manager – Now seriously, short of this title being attached to a hooker’s mini skirt, there are better ways to word this title. (And that is no dig against hard working hookers either)

Conversely, Names That Rock:

Jon Smigulski – This name must be yelled at the top of your lungs, and out loud for everyone to enjoy. Seriously, try it someday on the phone. Say “Hello, this is JON SMIGULSKI!! How may I help you” and see what response you get. I like this name so much in fact that I’m currently thinking of doing a whole marketing campaign based on the life of a Jon Smigulski.

Marketing Tips:

These are names and titles you should most likely try and avoid when hiring or applying for a job. I mean come on, if you’re applying for a job that has the title of Preblast Specialist, something can’t be right there. With that said, if you’re in the explosives industry this title might aptly apply and in that case, its a 50/50 deal.

Marketing wise if you are running an online business the thing to watch out for are stupid email addresses that could be easily fixed. Unless you’re a porn company you shouldn’t have a porn address. This is also a spammers gold mine. Communications should be easily remembered and accessible to the human brain – i.e. susan@interwebhunt.com and not hiscock@interwebhunt.com.

Tasteful marketing is key when trying to acquire clients. Don’t be a donkey’s ass and promote yourself with a less then desirable title or email name. Take the extra five or ten minutes and fix it appropriately.
