6 Blogging Tips To Help You

blog toolsPersistant stat checking - Your stats aren't going anywhere. Try and check them only once or twice a day for a few minutes. This will free up a ton of time in the long run that will enable you to write more for your blog, or I don't know, actually have a life?

Reading other blogs - This should be done to keep up to date on your niche topic, but should be limited in time as well. I can remember spending hours upon hours reading other people's blogs all day, and then running out of time to write for my own. Staying up to date on topics is of course a valid way to generate more ideas for your own blog, but you should have it streamlined. Use an RSS reader to gather all your favorite blogs into one easy to scan area. I personally use Google Reader, but there are a ton of options out there.

Shut off instant messengers - Seems like every time I get started writing I get interupted by someone on AIM or YIM who has a funny link or story to tell me about. Being the good friend that I am to everyone on my list (even the random people I have on there) I patiently wait and listen to the whole story and even go to the link most days. This accounts for a huge time sink. While you are trying to write for your blog shut off any other distractions, this includes instant messengers, tv's, xbox games etc.

Write on a full stomach - This is an odd one I know, but I've found that writing on a full stomach is a good way to produce full length postings that actually have some decent content to them. Your body is in a state of rest after a nice full meal, the last thing you'll want to do is move much. This creates a perfect time to sit down with the old laptop and whip out a nice post for your blog. Then you can go get some yummy desert.

Have your resources handy - Having any website or bit of information you've gathered in your researching phase easily accessible is always a good idea. I prefer to use a web browser that has tabs enabled so that I can easily flip back and forth between my blog posting and my resource that I'm currently using for material and linking purposes.

Develop a style - All of the pro bloggers have style, and I don't mean fashion - have you seen Shoemoney? I'm joking, his tshirts rock. Anyway, developing style is probably the most important aspect to any blogger. We all write with a certain cadence and flair, but you can learn to write a specific way if you want to. Train yourself to write in a particular fashion by, what else, writing! How many emails do you send in a given day? I bet a lot. Learn to write those emails with the same style that you would on your blog. Simple reinforcement of this style in everyday writing trains you're brain to reference this every time you sit down to write something. Soon enough you'll be doing it without thinking about it.

Nice tips, really nice. Now, if I could just start doing it. I just can’t get out of my stats and other blogs.

Blogging with full stomach. Hm…that’s a new one, I’ll try it.

Develop a style. That’s a hard one. It’s hard for me to have a style when I can hardly get some text together. English is not my native language. But I try, really hard.
