Taboo Money Making, The Adult World

adult industrySex sells online. Its been true since the beginning of the Internet and will most likely be true in any form or iteration of the Internet for as long as it is in existence. As humans we are genetically geared to procreate the species, theres no way around this. As the late twentieth century and first parts of the twenty first century come and go, the general acceptance and proliferation of sexual freedoms have spread the world over. While most online marketers will tell you publicly that they find the adult industry lewd and not mainstream, they are secretly wishing they could have half as good a return on investment in marketing as the adult industry has today.

If you are new to online marketing, or marketing in general you may not have heard the classic phrase "sex sells". Or then again you most likely have, since just about anything can be sold with some sort of sexy model attached to it. Take for example the Garnier Fructis hair care products. A simple hair care line that could have been marketed in a lot of different ways, but what do you see on tv? You'll notice that every Garnier ad is laced with long legged, sensual woman and the rugged yet oh so metrosexual males. All this for a hair care product?

Now I'm not going to go so far as to say that Disney markets sex, (or do they? see the little mermaid box cover for example) but mostly anything in the sixteen and over catagory is laced and perferated by sexual inuendo and imagery. Translate this to online and its no surprise that a large chunk of the internet is home to the adult industry.

If you're looking to make some money online, look no further the the adult industry.

The above sentence comes with a disclaimor however. Lately the conservative government of the United States has taken some actions with laws that cause some adult websites to rethink how they keep records etc, but this will not deter an entire industry that is making money hand over fist (no pun intended, but still funny). You too can get in on this money if you want to.

The adult industry has long been known to many webmasters as the industry with the highest payouts for affiliates. This is still the case for the most part, but has declined some in the last few years due to the large growth of websites promoting adult themes.

As a graphic artist and marketer myself, I've found that anything sexually related sells and gains traffic at a much higher rate then bland items or products that are great products but have small visual or sensory arousal functions. Take the post last week on Tila Tequila for example. I posted that with a lovely shot of the sexy Tila Tequila and wouldn't you know it, the traffic for that story has far outstripped some of the other postings from that week that would typically garner the same amount of traffic over that time frame.

People like sex. So as a marketer and money maker why not try a venture into a bit more sensual alleyway and see what you might find. You never know, you might find yourself attending the next Adult Entertainment Show - G4 tv did and had live coverage and a three day extravaganza based around it.

One of the easiest ways to get started in the adult world is to promote a service like Adult Friend Finder. This site links up adults for some sexy sexy fun on their own terms. Think of it like Myspace for adults (the non creepy pedophile kind). Here is a link to get you started promoting it.

Sex is becoming more mainstream people, learn to like it - then make money off it.

Thoughts, comments, rants, raves are welcome in the comments - I know people on both sides of this commentary will have strong opinions hopefully!

If only Google AdSense ads would be allowed on these kind of websites :)

It’s true, you can make a lot of money through the pr0n industry but there are still some risks about it as you said in your post.

Well the biggest thing that gets me is that if you search google for adult stuff, you get adult adwords ads on the side. So google gets to play both sides of the market, and forces adsense users to stay on the nice tidy side of it. Go figure.
