Social Network Bonanza

social networkLately I've been surfing around the net trying to find some alternate social media websites to market affiliate products and blogs on, and boy have I found a bunch of them. Seems like every other site I venture across has some form of social media implementation to it. While this isn't a bad thing for marketers, it poses a problem when you try and narrow down the most effective social media websites to post to. I've compiled a list below that are sites I use on a regular basis to market afilliate products and blogs to.

Mixx.com - This is a new site to me, but has been a decent source of traffic. I haven't quite nailed down the right categories that are most active here yet, but looks to be a decent site you could market to effectively.

Stumbleupon.com - A wide open social network site that displays a huge variety of content. You can find just about anything you want to search for on here.

Photographyvoter.com - Great site for all things photography, and photo related. Sort of a social media ranking system akin to flickr.

Digg.com - As much as we all may hate digg and understand that the system is run by a selective few power posters, this can still be a great place to post items, especially tech oriented stories that deal with the internet.

Sphinn.com - All things internet and marketing. This is a daily stop for me personally.

The combination of these five sites has proven a useful combination for my affiliate marketing strategies. While I don't recomend posting the same story to all sites consecutively, if done in a subtle combination it can produce high volumes of traffic. Try them out today with a simple test of a posting on each site and see what works for you.

I like Mixx a lot. Sphinn too. They are the up and comers, though I still get the most traffic from Stumbleupon.

Do you know of any video game niche social networks? I primarily just go to forums, but would love to become active in a gamers social network. The closest one that I found was FileRadar which has Digg-style voting for downloads. I wrote a post about it back in October.

Did you hear all the rumors about Digg going down under (I mean hell not Australia).

I think Digg is to big now for anyone to take it down.

Maybe you could include Reddit, Del.icio.us and Propeller. They’ve been reliable traffic resources for me.

Yeh I think digg is too big to really get blown up at this point, but they might sell out (which they’ve sorta already done with their advertising anyway)
