How To Save Money – Clothes Edition
In my current quest to save money whenever and wherever possible, I've turned my energies towards figuring out what my annual clothing costs might be. Everyone wears clothing - unless you are doing some of the more fun things in life - and we pay a ton of money every year in clothing costs. If your single and living with a roommate who happens to share your same taste and style in clothing then you are already set up for a great savings plan just by borrowing some outfits occasionally.
Now if you are like me and have a home with a spouse then you are out of luck on the borrowing of clothes - unless you happen to be a cross dresser, in which case you're all set to go. Most people tend to go clothes shopping at least once a year to spend a significant amount on a new wardrobe. If you have children then you inevitably take the shopping trip before school starts to get the newest and best trends for the upcoming school year. For myself, I typically spend anywhere from $250 - $500 in new clothing for work every eight months or so. Add in shopping for a child for school and that number can easily double.
With the economy headed towards the south east end of a shady corner of Mexico, everyone is tightening the belt, and saving money where they can. One of the easier methods to keep your hard earned money in your pocket is to shop the internet for your clothes. A huge benefit to this is lower prices, and you can usually get package deals that are already put together for style and good looks.
Be sure to have all your sizes and brand names that you know fit you well before you go looking online for your next wardrobe purchase. Also be sure that you are buying brand names and not knock offs unless you know exactly what knock of brand fits the same way. Ebay is one of the best places to find clothes for cheap. You can always get awesome deals on vintage clothing and save yourself a ton of money.
Even if you save yourself $50 every four months on a few clothing purchases you can put that money away into a savings bank and accumulate some interest that you would otherwise not have. Simple ways to save money don't always add up the fastest to the biggest wealth, but if you combine methods the savings start to add up very quickly.
Here are a few auctions on Ebay that I've seen recently that would save you some money on clothes:
