Tristram Returns Booyeh!

Its official - I will have zero time left once the newly announced Diablo III comes out. Blizzard announced the other day that they are in the process of making the third installment of the Diablo series. I got super hooked on Diablo II, and actually make some decent money from the game from selling items to other players. Personally I doubt that Blizzard will relax its stance on selling in game items, but it would be nice to see them not completely obliterate players who do so.
Diablo 3 has no official release date, but based on the game play trailer and graphics I’ve seen over at Blizzard.com it looks to be very well on its way to final polished gold release. There are some changes to the game play it looks like, one of them being a class structure that looks really good. You can now play as the witch doctor class, I for one am definitely looking forward to that.
It looks like the game play has also been expanded to include some similar functions as World of Warcraft, the world map looks like a direct port from WoW - not that its a bad thing! The Diablo 3 world just got a lot bigger thats for sure. It will be interesting to see if Blizzard will charge a subscription fee for it though. In the past Diablo has always been free to play on Battle.net.
In any case once it comes out I will most certainly be glued to the game and will be attempting to power level and sell some items in the first few weeks to make some money like the old days.

Fragalicious - Marketing Via Xbox Live

Its no secret that I’m totally and completely addicted to playing Halo 3. The fact that I’ve got an entire category on this site proves the fact that I’m addicted. As I was playing Halo 3 last night on Xbox Live I got to thinking of some interesting ways you can do some social networking and promotion of your website while enjoying a nice round of slayer on Snowbound with your team mates.
Xbox Live for those of you who don’t play, is Microsoft’s online multi player universe where players from all over the globe can login with a variety of games and play against and with each other. Three of the most popular games for Xbox Live are Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, and Madden ‘08. These games all allow users to converse with each other during play, be it trash talk or cooperative team play.
Whats of value from this service is the ability to socially network your website and plug various promotions. One way to do this is to put your website name (if its short enough) as your gamer tag. A gamer tag is the screen name that other plays will see when they are mercilessly destroying you in a game of Oddball or whatever variant you happen to be playing at the time. Not only is this, but you can directly chat with other players on your team and suggest they check out your site.
Another bonus to this is that a lot of Xbox Live games contain leader boards, and you could get your gamer tag up high enough on a leader board you will be promoting your site further.
Keep in mind this may be against the terms of service for Xbox Live so use some discretion in this marketing tactic. However if done right you could gain some exposure for yourself, especially if you are promoting a gaming site or blog that will help other players in game.
So have fun fragging, and be sure to keep up a good ranking!

Poker Mac Style
Posted by admin
Websites and blog posts aren’t always the easiest way to make money online. Every blogger needs to have some down time. This is essential to creating vibrant, fresh and informative content on a daily basis. One of the best ways that I’ve found to relax but still keep my mind sharp is to play poker online.
I started off playing poker online just for fun, but decided to try it for money some weeks back with a few dollars from the profits of this blog. I don’t reccomend spending a ton of cash on your new poker habit, but a few bucks isn’t too bad. One issue I have though is finding a suitable site to play poker on, as I’m typically on my Mac laptop. If you’ve tried some poker sites with a Mac you know what a pain in the ass it can be to load their websites.
Macpoker has taken that into consideration and has graciously taken the time to list and review a lot of the major websites, and specifically point out the ones that work best with Mac. Macpoker also has a great listing of articles if you’re just starting out learning how to play poker.
So this morning I fired up my laptop and tried writing some posts, no juice. I just didn’t have the mojo this morning for typing and editing and all the junk that comes with making a good post effective and researched etc. So I decided to play some poker. Well strike me with a truck, I had the poker luck in effect and won the first two tables I sat down at.
Feeling the rush of excitement from winning I entered another table with some of my winnings from the previous rounds. This was great up till the third or fourth hand and then I started getting my face served to me every hand by another player. So long story short I ended up loosing that round, but I still came out on top with a 100$ profits for the morning session. Go check out MacPoker at some point if you’re on a mac and looking to play some poker.
If you’re a blogger, consider what you do for creative rechargment and see if you can add some money making skills into that as well. My rechargement of choice is poker, but that doesn’t mean you can’t try other things. Take online gaming for example, there are whole professional gaming leagues now where you can get contracts and make money.
Winning money always helps recharge the creative spirits.

Learn the Maps, and the strategies used on them:
Every map is laid out in a specific fashion for a reason. Bungie has done a fairly decent job of keeping most of the maps balanced terrain and weapons wise. However this doesn’t mean that there aren’t certain strategies that should be employed for specific maps. One such strategy that I like to use when playing team slayer on Narrows is to focus all attention on the bridge and hold that. If you can find the focal point of each level and maintain a hold you should gain some advantage. Some maps have lifts that will fling you into the air, these provide excellent places to kill and be killed. Throw some grenades up the lift first to clear your way, then proceed up yourself. You can also use these to access high perches that are great for sniping.
Run Away:
Who said there was any shame in running away and living? On team games there is no reason for you to be the lone hero. Strategy and teamwork are very key, giving free kills to the other team as you charge all four of them alone doesn’t help. If you find yourself being out numbered the best course of action is to duck and cover (run away) until you can have a team mate assist you. That does not mean you can’t throw sticky grenades back at your enemy while running away though. Some of the best kills have been made with stickies thrown in desperation run away attempts. Besides, it looks cool to show your friends later.
Avoid Fighting in the Open:
A lot of the maps in Halo 3 are center specific, meaning they have a centralized kill zone. Gaurdian for example has three circular kill zones that are wide open. Typically these areas are fantastic bait for grenades and rockets. You should try and avoid running blindly through these places at all costs. On the other hand, if you can find a nice spot to sit and hurl large exploding objects at players that are careless enough to run or stand in the middle of these open spots, you should do so with zeal. You can rack up double and triple kill medals pretty easily if you get a well placed rocket into the middle of a team standing clumped together in these sections.
