Traffic Generation Tip

Posted by admin

So Blogrush.com was released into the wild a few days ago and it blew up, literally. Although surprisingly I didn’t notice too much of a bog down on there servers after the initial launch which was impressive given the massive amount of sign ups and instant usage that bloggers initiated.

After running the Blogrush.com widget for a few days now I’ve seen some steady traffic, and for the most part category appropriate links within my own widget. I’ve also seen several posts from people all over stating both good and bad about Blogrush.com. So i figured I’d throw my two cents into the fray.

My thoughts: patience. It is too early to tell yet wether or not it will be boom or bust. My personal feeling on the Blogrush.com widget is that it will be around for awhile. Its simple, easy to install and so far seems to be working well in regards to cross linking similar types of websites.

If you have a blog or website, I definitely believe its a worthwhile test adventure at the bare minimum. On the other hand I think it could also be a very good traffic generation tool. However like all other search engine, and traffic generation tools, there will be quirks and specific ways to manipulate the system to get the most out of it. More to follow on that topic later.

Niche Marketing Tools - Google Labs

Posted by admin

If you are like me and looking to break into the niche markets to make a few extra dollars here and there - you probably have no idea where to start looking for that lucrative niche market. Am I right? I’ve outlined a few steps below that might help you out.

First things first, you need to research, research, research. I don’t care what people say you can’t make it rich over night - short of winning the lottery. If you’re going to make some money with niche markets you need to understand that it will take research, planning, and cultivation of you’re website to get anywhere with it.

Web 2.0 has enabled everyone and their mom to get a blog going and post about anything they want to, which is good and bad at the same time. As a marketer I feel strongly that you should have your own domain name and hosting. While the blogging websites are good and can generate some meager traffic to your blog to start off with, in the long run having your own domain looks better in the eyes of the bigger search engines like Google, Yahoo, etc. Thats not to say you shouldn’t still be posting on sites like blogger.com, and some of the other big free blogging websites. In fact that is a good way to get those much needed page ranking links, but we’ll get to that later.

If you’ve already got a domain and host, my first step would be to throw up a nice coming soon page and sign up for an Adsense or a Clickbank ad or two on it just to have something there if some random traffic happens to come your way while you are researching and planning out you’re new website.

One of the first places I start when developing new niche marketing pages is Google Suggest Labs. This handy little tool has become a gold mine of information for me since I’ve started working with it. If you have a specific niche market in mind that you’d like to develop your page around Google Suggest Labs will give you some added information on which terms people are searching most for. For example if I’m putting together a page on balloons, I’ll go over the Google Suggest Labs and start typing in a word i want to search by, but don’t hit search yet. While you are typing in balloon, Google will display the top search trends for you under the search bar:

google labs
Now you can’t ask for much better then this when looking for relative terms in relation to you’re niche market. Not only can you see how many hits each search term is getting you can see it in relation to similar search terms. Write these terms down and have them handy with you while you are creating your first pages for the new site. Using these terms as meta tags, throughout your pages, and as blog posts can and will get you more search engine traffic.

Go visit Google Suggest Labs for a bit and start researching some terms within your proposed niche market. I’ll be posting more research steps shortly.
