mail return labelPosted June 10, 2008

I’m always on the look out for new ways to simply and effectively advertise myself or whatever product website I happen to be promoting at any given time. So this nifty little trick happened to catch my eye the other day while I was sifting through the pounds of mail that I get on a daily basis. And by mail, I mean real actual physical mail from the mailbox, not email.

Now I know about half of you just took a deep huff and sighed at the sight of the word real mail, but bare with me here as real mail isn’t as dead as you might think it has been. Far from it, real mail has been thinned down so much by the advent of cheap spam emails that to promote via the post office is again becoming a great way to target perspective buyers.

This nifty little trick has been in my bag of fun ideas for awhile, but until recently I hadn’t had the time to try it out. Well suffice it to say I’m an idiot for not doing it sooner. I normally send out physical mailings to a prospective list of people every month for certain products, as well as mail various companies with proposals, and friends and family etc. That being said I do a fair amount of mailing. One of the worst things about doing a ton of mailing is writing the return address on every single freaking piece of mail going out.

Well this time I took a little extra time and got some nice cheap address labels printed up - but I did it with a catch. Instead of putting my own info on there I decided to put this website address. I’ve listed below how it looks on the label:

www.interwebhunt.com
PO Box 4
NY, NY 10124

Obviously I’ve changed the actual address to a fake one, but you get the point! Pay also close attention to the way in which the colors were printed on the label. Making use of a bold red first line and dull grayed out second lines forces the readers eye to look at the first line and read it. Think of how many people will see this particular label on whatever journey it goes on. The postman, the letter sorter in the office mail room, the secretary, the end user. Thats at least four people on a single five cent return label. Not necessarily a bad option here.

Another great part of having labels like this printed up is that you can stick them anywhere - and by that I mean subway posting boards, college campuses, street poles, buildings etc etc. The possibilities are really limited only by your imagination. A great way to entice people is to fore go the actual return address and print something juicy like - Win $500 - you get the point!

So go try it out damn it!

Outsource Your Marketing - Focus On Content

Posted by admin

internet marketingPosted 5.19.08

Running a successful blog these days requires bloggers to wear many hats that they are most of the time not that comfortable wearing. Gone are the days where you can just write content to your page and it will be found by the multitudes of surfers. Nowadays you have to be blogger, seo mogul, entrepreneur, marketing strategist, and IT professional all rolled up into one - unless you’ve got your own personal team of internet marketing specialist.

Now normally I’d say you should learn to do SEO and marketing yourself, as it is a great skill to have and one that many webmasters and bloggers would benefit from, but to get a successful blog out to the world and maintain good content can sometimes be overwhelming. Good content is definitely king in the long run, and as such you need to be able to sit down and focus on creating that type of content that will keep your user base coming back for more everyday, or every week depending on your posting schedule. Most good bloggers will tell you that a daily posting schedule will return the most users.

Something to consider is outsourcing your internet marketing to a company with a good reputation and long standing internet presence. This will cost you some money certainly, but you have to weigh how much the time you will be freeing up is worth to you in other areas. If outsourcing your internet marketing allows you to concentrate more time on writing good solid content for your site, which in turn generates more affiliate sales, does this increase compensate for the loss you’re spending on marketing?

In some cases it is certainly worth outsourcing your internet marketing and seo efforts, but not always. If you’ve got a moderate sized blog or website that is consistently bringing in new readers and maintaining a good reader base it might be worth at least looking into the numbers for hiring a third party firm to take over your SEO and marketing efforts at least partially if not fully.

Design Meets Marketing

Posted by admin

web designPosted - 4.10.08

In my travels around the web I’m always on the lookout for sites that just work. And by just work i mean completely blow the doors off my mind in their style, function, or down right coolness. Most of the time I come across the same old boring crap, that people just regurgetate and make sound a little different. Of course that happens a ton in any of the online make money niches that I read so often. Every so often I find a site that bucks the trend and makes style work with function to produce a site that is both eye pleasing as well as mentally stimulating.

Stylishdesign.com is a web design blog about web design obviously, but it also has branches of marketing, online structures and other interesting topics that bloggers and webmasters will enjoy. Some of the best postings on the site have to do with search engine optimization and styling of your blog. They go into a lot of detail on apache and coding for specific items which is really helpful. If you’re searching for some good lunch time reading while your at work doing nothing at your desk, this is a great site to take time and really delve into its depths.

I give the guys over at Stylishdesign.com some serious thumbs up - and super kudos to the rediculously clean layout they’ve got going on to. I’d vote for them in a style contest right now, but I can’t seem to find a style contest to vote them into - sigh.

What Lacrosse Can Teach You About Marketing

Posted by admin

lacrosseWith the return of spring brings one of my favorite times of year, and not just because all the snow goes away. Its mainly because Lacrosse season is here once again and I get to watch one of my favorite sports in all its glory. If you’ve never seen a Lacrosse game or have no clue what I’m talking about then you need to slap yourself into the twenty first century and go check out a game.

One of the best things with Lacrosse is that it is a combination of a ton of different sports. It has the running and huge field aspects of soccer, the brutal stick checks and physicality of ice hockey, and the team work of basketball and football. Really its one of the best sports on the planet. What can you learn from Lacrosse that will help you in marketing?

Good question, and theres a bunch of things you can learn. One is that you need to be fast. In order to score and transition the ball in Lacrosse, speed is a huge necessity. You need to be able to get to the ball before your opponant does, and then out run them to the goal. Marketing is very similar in the fact that the early bird gets the worm most days. You need to out hustle your opponants to get in on techniques before everyone else figures out what your doing. Being quick and decisive is a huge advantage to you.

One of the other necessities of Lacrosse is that you need to be able to take a beating and keep going. The internet and global market is certainly not going to just lay down and die for you to make your millions. You need perseverance and determination to make your way in the global soup that is the internet. If you’re trying out an affiliate program and loose your shirt on marketing campaigns, well then you need to pick your sorry ass up and do it all over again until you succeed eventually.

In both Lacrosse and marketing you need essential items to make it to the top. Speed, quickness, determination and a willingness to take a beating are some of the top skills you need to have in your hip pocket to succeed. So get out there and start your million dollar project right now damn it.
