We all know that Myspace has been the reigning king & sometimes queen (think about that for a minute) of the social networks for a awhile. Yes, there are other networks that are becoming more prolific and could possibly challenge Myspace for the throne fairly soon, but that is a ways off yet. For now Myspace is still in power, and with that comes vast numbers of followers.

How do I make money with Myspace? Simple, get loads and loads and loads of friends. And do it manually! There are software programs out there that will automatically generate friend requests to thousands of people on Myspace in a single blast, but that has to be one of the fastest and dumbest ways I know of to get the swift kick in the ass from Myspace spam assassins.

To utilize Myspace to its full extent you have to take some time to cultivate and grow you’re friends list. If you’ve got your own blog, consider reposting every other post from your blog over to your Myspace account, or even writing some new blogs under your Myspace account. This will ensure that your Myspace friends have something interesting and tangible to read and most importantly remember you are not a spam bot.

Once you’ve managed to get your account up and going with some info, and you’ve managed to persuade some people to be your friend, go get more friends. This is the most important part to the marketing of Myspace. If you’ve managed to get 2-300 friends, you can start implementing bulletin marketing.

Posting blogs on Myspace is fine and dandy, but people still need to visit you’re profile to read them. Bulletins are sent out to all you’re friends in a single pop. This is when you need to pull out all the stops and create a headline that screams click me. Myspace offers you the tools to blast targeted postings to your friends, you need to use them.

The trick is to make the posting as benign as possible and not be offensive to the user. Ad blindness is spreading like wildfire, so don’t make your bulletin look like an ad. If done correctly you can get a fairly decent stream of traffic utilizing this method. I would use this method as a promotional tool though, to get spike targeted traffic to a specific item or page for a specific period of time.

Free Myspace Marketing

Wouldn’t you like to be able to have your link viewed by thousands of people everyday? Of course we all would, and for many of us, we spend hours a day finding new ways to make this happen. One of the easiest ways that I’ve found so far to do this is to utilize the Myspace forums.

Most of us have a myspace account, wether or not we like to admit it is another story though. Even if you do not use Myspace that often, its worth having a simple profile set up just to use the forums alone. These forums get tons of readers everyday on a wide variety of topics.

If you do not have a Myspace account, in order to properly use this idea you’ll need to set one up and then wait 7 days to post to the forums. However, if you’ve already got an account you’re ready to go. Click on the forums link and start going through the list of catagories until you find one that interests you.

Once you’ve navigated you’re way to the forum of choice, click on the Settings button in the top right hand corner of the page. This will bring up a box for you to write a signature in. This is where you want to put the link to your website, but don’t just throw it in there all boring like. Make it a snappy title that will grab peoples attention, but is also relevant to you’re websites theme. Then click save and close.

Now that you’ve got your signature all set up, go to a forum posting and test it out. Leave someone a reply to a post and be sure to look at you’re post in the preview window before hitting post. If everything looks good hit post and -blam- you’ve got a free publicity link.

To take it one step further, be sure to view the numbers associated with each forum. Myspace has been kind enough to tell you how many topics and postings there are in each category. This is a free road map of where people are hanging out and what they are talking about. Start by picking heavily trafficked areas and post some interesting topics and replies to other posts. You might not get a ton of traffic, but you will see an increase.
